In this lesson we will discuss the following aspects of the Brake System: Hydraulic Power Source, Alternate Brakes, Brake Accumulator, Antiskid, Autobrakes and Parking Brake.

 

Hydraulic System B powers the normal brakes and System A powers the alternate brakes.

 

System A automatically supplies power to the alternate brakes when System B pressure is low or fails.

 

System B supplies pressure for the brake accumulator.

 

Brake accumulator trapped pressure can provide several brake applications or be used to set the parking brake, in the event of loss of normal and alternate brakes.

 

Antiskid is available with both normal and alternate brakes.

 

With normal brakes, antiskid is provided for each main wheel.

 

With alternate brakes, antiskid is provided for each main wheel pair only.

 

If a skid is detected, brake pressure is reduced to that wheel or pair until the skidding stops.

 

Protection for Skid, Locked Wheel, Touchdown and Hydroplaning is provided by both brake systems.

 

Even with loss of both hydraulic systems antiskid protection is available.

 

The ANTISKID INOP Light Illuminates to indicate a system fault has been detected by the antiskid monitoring system. It is extinguished when the system is operating normally.

 

Hydraulic System B provides pressure for the autobrake system.

 

Autobrakes provide preselected deceleration rates for landing and the maximum deceleration rate for a rejected takeoff.

 

The normal brake system must be operational for the autobrakes to work.

 

When autobrakes are operating, antiskid is provided.

 

Rejected Takeoff, or RTO mode is a ground-only selection. When selected, the AUTO BRAKE DISARM light illuminates momentarily to indicate proper operation of the self-test. 

 

In order to arm the RTO mode prior to takeoff these conditions must apply: the airplane is on the ground; the antiskid and autobrake systems must be operational;

the AUTO BRAKE select switch must be positioned to RTO; wheel speed must be less than 60 knots; and the forward thrust levers must be positioned to IDLE.

 

It should be noted that, if takeoff is rejected before 90 knots wheel speed, autobraking will not start. The AUTO BRAKE DISARM light will not illuminate and RTO remains armed.

 

For a reject after reaching a wheel speed of 90 knots, maximum braking is applied when the forward thrust levers are retarded to IDLE.

 

RTO mode is automatically disarmed when airborne but the AUTO BRAKE DISARM light does not illuminate and the switch remains in RTO.

 

The switch must be turned OFF to reset or manually disarm the system. 

 

For a landing with the switch left in RTO, there will be no autobraking. The AUTO BRAKE DISARM light will illuminate 2 sec after touchdown.

 

The system performs a turn-on-self-test when an autobrake selection is made for landing. The AUTO BRAKE DISARM light illuminates if the test is not successful and the system does not arm.

 

The crew may choose one of four levels of deceleration for landing. It should be noted that, on a dry runway, MAX deceleration is not as great as full pedal braking.

 

When the main wheels spin up and the thrust levers are at idle, autobraking will start. The selected level may be changed before slowing to 30 knots groundspeed.

 

The use of reverse thrust and spoilers will reduce the amount of autobraking in order to maintain the selected deceleration rate.

 

If the flight crew does not terminate autobraking, the aircraft will come to a complete stop.

 

Disarming is accomplished by turning the switch OFF. The AUTO BRAKE DISARM light will not illuminate.

 

Once braking has started, the system is disarmed and the AUTO BRAKE DISARM light is illuminated due to the following: the speed brake lever is moved to the down detent; one or both thrust levers are advanced; or manual brakes are applied.

 

The parking brake may be set using either Hydraulic System A or B pressure and may be maintained with accumulator pressure.

 

The HYD BRAKE PRESS indicator displays Accumulator pressure.

 

Depressing both brake pedals fully and simultaneously pulling the PARKING BRAKE lever up sets the parking brake. The rudder pedals are latched in place and the parking brake valve closes.

 

Depressing the pedals releases the parking brake. 

 

If there is a fault in the parking brake system the ANTISKID INOP light may illuminate.

유압 전원 공급원 및 대체 브레이크

• 정상 브레이크는 유압 시스템 B에서 전원을 공급받습니다.

• 대체 브레이크는 유압 시스템 A에서 전원을 공급받습니다.

• 유압 시스템 B의 압력이 낮거나 고장이 발생하면, 시스템 A가 자동으로 대체 브레이크에 전원을 공급합니다.

• 유압 시스템 B는 브레이크 축압기(Brake Accumulator)에도 압력을 공급합니다.

 

브레이크 축압기(Brake Accumulator)

• 브레이크 축압기는 저장된 압력을 통해 여러 번의 브레이크 작동을 지원하거나, 정상 및 대체 브레이크가 모두 손실된 경우 주차 브레이크를 설정하는 데 사용될 수 있습니다.

 

미끄럼 방지(Antiskid)

• 미끄럼 방지 기능은 정상 및 대체 브레이크 모두에서 사용 가능합니다.

• 정상 브레이크에서는 각 메인 휠마다 개별적으로 미끄럼 방지가 적용됩니다.

• 대체 브레이크에서는 메인 휠 한 쌍 단위로 미끄럼 방지가 적용됩니다.

• 미끄럼이 감지되면, 해당 바퀴 또는 바퀴 쌍의 브레이크 압력이 감소하여 미끄럼이 멈출 때까지 조절됩니다.

• 미끄럼 방지 시스템은 다음과 같은 보호 기능을 제공합니다.

• Skid 방지

• 휠 잠김 방지

• 터치다운 보호

• 수막현상(Hydroplaning) 방지

• 유압 시스템이 모두 손실되더라도 미끄럼 방지 보호 기능은 유지됩니다.

• ANTISKID INOP(미끄럼 방지 작동 불가) 경고등이 점등되면 시스템에 이상이 있음을 나타내며, 시스템이 정상적으로 작동할 때는 소등됩니다.

 

자동 브레이크(Autobrakes)

• 자동 브레이크 시스템은 유압 시스템 B에서 압력을 공급받습니다.

• 자동 브레이크는 착륙 시 선택된 감속률을 제공하며, 이륙 중단(Rejected Takeoff, RTO) 시 최대 감속률을 적용합니다.

• 정상 브레이크 시스템이 작동 상태여야 자동 브레이크가 작동할 수 있습니다.

• 자동 브레이크가 작동 중일 때도 미끄럼 방지 기능이 제공됩니다.

 

이륙 중단(Rejected Takeoff, RTO) 모드

• RTO 모드는 지상에서만 선택 가능합니다.

• RTO 모드 선택 시, AUTO BRAKE DISARM(자동 브레이크 해제) 경고등이 순간적으로 점등되어 시스템이 정상적으로 작동함을 나타냅니다.

• 이륙 전 RTO 모드를 활성화하려면 다음 조건이 충족되어야 합니다.

1. 항공기가 지상에 있어야 함

2. 미끄럼 방지 및 자동 브레이크 시스템이 정상 작동 상태여야 함

3. AUTO BRAKE 선택 스위치가 RTO 위치에 있어야 함

4. 바퀴 속도가 60노트 미만이어야 함

5. 스러스트 레버가 IDLE 위치에 있어야 함

• 이륙이 중단되었을 때 바퀴 속도가 90노트 미만이면 자동 브레이크가 작동하지 않으며, RTO 모드는 여전히 활성화된 상태로 유지됩니다.

• 90노트 이상에서 이륙이 중단되면, 스러스트 레버가 IDLE 위치로 감속될 때 최대 브레이크 압력이 적용됩니다.

• 항공기가 이륙하면 RTO 모드는 자동으로 해제되지만, AUTO BRAKE DISARM 경고등은 점등되지 않으며 스위치는 RTO 위치에 남아 있습니다.

• RTO 모드를 리셋하거나 수동으로 해제하려면 스위치를 OFF로 전환해야 합니다.

 

착륙 시 자동 브레이크 적용

• AUTO BRAKE 선택 시, 시스템은 자동으로 자체 테스트(Turn-On-Self-Test)를 수행하며, 테스트 실패 시 AUTO BRAKE DISARM 경고등이 점등되고 자동 브레이크는 활성화되지 않습니다.

• 승무원은 착륙 시 네 가지 감속률 중 하나를 선택할 수 있습니다.

• 건조한 활주로에서 MAX(최대) 감속률은 수동 브레이크를 최대한 적용하는 것보다 약간 낮습니다.

• 메인 랜딩 기어 바퀴가 회전하고 스러스트 레버가 IDLE 상태일 때 자동 브레이크가 시작됩니다.

• 착륙 후 자동 브레이크 수준은 항공기가 지상 속도 30노트에 도달하기 전까지 조정할 수 있습니다.

• 역추력(Reverse Thrust) 및 스포일러(Spoilers) 사용 시 자동 브레이크 적용량이 감소하여 선택된 감속률을 유지하도록 조정됩니다.

• 승무원이 자동 브레이크를 해제하지 않으면, 항공기는 자동으로 완전히 정지합니다.

• 자동 브레이크를 해제하려면 스위치를 OFF로 전환해야 하며, 이때 AUTO BRAKE DISARM 경고등은 점등되지 않습니다.

• 자동 브레이크 작동 중 다음 동작이 수행되면 AUTO BRAKE DISARM 경고등이 점등되고 시스템이 해제됩니다.

1. 스피드 브레이크 레버가 DOWN 위치로 이동됨

2. 한 개 이상의 스러스트 레버가 전진 위치로 이동됨

3. 수동 브레이크가 적용됨

 

주차 브레이크(Parking Brake)

• 유압 시스템 A 또는 B를 이용하여 주차 브레이크를 설정할 수 있으며, 축압기 압력을 유지할 수 있습니다.

• HYD BRAKE PRESS 지시기는 축압기 압력을 표시합니다.

• 주차 브레이크 설정 방법:

1. 양쪽 브레이크 페달을 완전히 밟은 상태에서

2. PARKING BRAKE 레버를 위로 당기면 주차 브레이크가 설정됩니다.

3. 러더 페달이 고정되며 주차 브레이크 밸브가 닫힙니다.

• 주차 브레이크 해제 방법:

• 브레이크 페달을 밟으면 주차 브레이크가 해제됩니다.

• 주차 브레이크 시스템에 이상이 발생하면 ANTISKID INOP(미끄럼 방지 작동 불가) 경고등이 점등될 수 있습니다.
